  4.    Legal junk:

  6. For some reason, all FAQs seem to have legal junk at the beginning, so   
  7. what the heck, I'll do it as well.  This FAQ is NOT copyrighted.  I
  8. have severe moral problems attempting to claim copyright on something
  9. that is nothing more than a compilation of information which can be
  10. found elsewhere.  I didn't create a single byte of this information, I
  11. merely wrote it up.  That being the case, this FAQ is now yours to do
  12. with as you please.  Feel free to repost it, mail it to your friends,
  13. print it out and line the bird cage with it, I really don't care.

  34. Sorry.  Keep trying.  I'm sure it is also somewhere on wuarchive, but
  35. since I can't connect there...EVER...I can't confirm it.  Both uml and
  36. uwp will refuse logins when full.  uml doesn't tell you, those...it just
  37. fails to recognize anonymous users.

  39. What to do if you have problems running jazz:
  40.  
  41. 99.9999999% (cool...nine 9's) of the problems people think they have
  42. with jazz are because you didn't use a clean boot.  Even if you DO have
  43. enough memory to run it, it often will benefit from a clean boot (hit F5
  44. when Starting MSDos 6.x...use a boot disk otherwise).  If you DON'T have
  45. enough memory, use a clean boot to get it.  If you STILL don't have
  46. enough, think about upgrading to 4 meg.

  48. How do I cheat at JAZZ?

  50. Hey, ya came to the right place.  This FAQ had its start as a cheat list.
  51. I do not claim to have the complete list of cheats, but this is what
  52. I have discovered and what has been reported to me.  If you know of one
  53. not listed, send me mail and I'll add it.

  55. To activate the cheats, press 'p-backspace-<codeword>'.
  56.  
  57. arjan  : HAHAHA displayed on the screen
  58. gunhed : Gives you all the weapons.
  59. tim    : AWESOME displayed on the screen
  60. check  : Displays some numbers on lower left of screen
  61. greetz : Displays an "Arjan Greetz" window
  62. doom   : Makes monsters FASTER and HARDER.
  63. lamer  : Jump to the next level
  64. mark   : Will lose a life, and start over.  Useful if trapped.
  65. bouf   : Invincibility (for a while)
  66. sable  : Super Sonic Speed (sorry...couldn't resist)
  67. cstrike: Airboard
  68. hooker : Takes you to the Bonus Level when current scene is done.
  69.          Same as collecting red gem.
  70. bad    : Gives you the bird (I promised not to say anything)
  71. ken    : Boss key. 
  72. hocus  : Teleports.  MUST have an enemy above or below you.

  79. If the above method doesn't work for you, your copy is probably 1.1.
  80. Type 'p-backspace-dd<codeword>' to use the cheats.

  82. *NOTE*:  I hear rumours that there is a 'carrot' cheat for version 1.1.
  83. As I don't have 1.1, I can't confirm this, but if there is one it probably
  84. gives you life energy.

  86. Problems installing Jazz:

  88. Some people have had some problems with Jazz doing funny things.
  89. When you install it, remember a few things:
  90.  
  91. 1>  The manual says you need 10 meg to run/load Jazz.  First, it is
  92. wrong.  (Specs ALWAYS change right after you finish the manual...it's
  93. Federal Law).  You need 13 meg.  DOUBLE that (around 20ish) to do a
  94. proper installation, and as most Stacker users know, double that again
  95. to compensate for the estimated compression.

  97. 2>  It IS possible you got a bad disk.  If you try everything, and it
  98. still won't load properly, call Epic and report the problem.
